H. C. Pyburn Died Saturday
Hiram Culpepper Pyburn, superintendent of building and grounds at Louisiana Tech for the past thirty years, died October 25 in St. Francis Hospital in Monroe after a brief illness.
Mr. Pyburn was a member of a prominent pioneer family. He attended Dodson High School, Louisiana Tech and Tulane University. A member of Sigma Nu fraternity, he served as faculty advisor while at Tech and aided in securing a permanent chapter house. Mr. Pyburn was a member of the American Legion, a former president of Lions Club, and current president of the Men's Bible Class in the First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Day officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. LaVerne E. Pyburn; one daughter, Mrs. Warren Matthews of Reston, Va.; two sisters, Miss Helen Pyburn of Hammond, Miss Mary Sue Pyburn of Baltimore, Maryland; brother, Dwight D. Pyburn of Shreveport; and a number of nieces and nephews.
