Hiram Hyde, 64, Dies Suddenly Tuesday Morning

Friends throughout the Hill Country were shocked Tuesday morning when they learned of the sudden death of Hiram Preston Hyde, 64, which occurred at his ranch home on the Divide early that morning. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.

The funeral services are to be held Thursday afternoon, March 14, in the Sunset Cemetery, and the pallbearers will be Bobbie Baldwin, Roscoe Tarr, Jim Priour, Jasper Moore, Pierce Hoggett and Dr. David Creager.

Mr. Hyde was a native of Kerr County, and was born in the Hunt section, his parents being the late Thomas C. and Sarah Emmons Hyde. He had lived on the ranch on the Divide for the last 36 years. He was married in 1902 to Mattie Johnson of Medina, who with 10 children, are his survivors.

The children are Leonard Hyde, Bandera; Loy Hyde, San Antonio; Mrs. Roy Trimble, Junction; Mrs. Bryan Cobb, Ingram; Mrs. Freeman Miears, Sonora, and Earl Hyde, Mrs. Robert Cobb, Mrs. Geunther Ahrens, Miss Lucille Hyde and Miss Margaret Hyde of Mountain Home. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Oakley Jones, Mountain Home and Mrs. Annie Secrest, Uvalde; three brothers, Mack, Wa[l]ter and Arthur Hyde, all of Mountain Home, and 20 grandchildren.
