Hollis Larry Elam
Reeves -- Funeral service for Larry Elam, 77, will be held Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10am in Creel Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reeves. Bro. Sam Burchard and Bro. Don Barrett will co-officiate the service and burial will follow in Creel Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held in Creel Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reeves beginning Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 1-10pm and will continue at the chapel on Friday morning from 8am until time of service.
Larry served our country in the United States Army and also served his community as Reeves Fire Chief and as a village councilman. Larry was his family's history book, encyclopedia, and repair manual and he was everybody's coffee drinking buddy! He was a devoted husband, a loving dad and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Elam of Reeves; one son, Scott Lee Elam and wife, Monica of Reeves; one daughter, Tammy Gary and husband, Philip of Reeves; one sister, Georgia Fruge of Reeves; six grandchildren-Tara, Laura, Aaron, Craig, Westley, and Alyssa; and two great grandchildren-Michael and Drake.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Rhea Elam; one son, Darrell Elam; his brother, Jerry Elam; and, his first wife, Irma Jean Pitre Elam.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry's name to the Dry Creek Bible Church Building Fund.
