HOMER B. BALDWIN
Homer B. Baldwin, 83, of Laurel died on Wednesday, June 1, 1994, at Magee General Hospital in Magee, of heart failure.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel with burial in Rocky Hill Cemetery in Smith County. Dr. Dennis Sewell and Rev. Ken Regan will officiate.
He was the retired owner of Baldwin's Grocery. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church in Laurel where he served as deacon, secretary of the adult Sunday School department for 35 years. He was a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Johnson Baldwin of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Edwina B. and Ken Barber of Jackson, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Molly Barber of Jackson, Tenn.; a brother, Ethel Baldwin of Raleigh; three sisters, Annie Starling of Clinton, and Linda [sic Lyda] Mensch and Eunice Wardell, both of Jackson, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Polen, Wendell Gavin, Dr. Jim Baldwin, Leonard Hardy, Tom Henderson and Wendell Elliott.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Highland Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
