Homer Coleman
Homer Coleman, 86, of Summit, died January 25, 2010 at the State Veterans Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born February 6, 1923 in Meadville, MS. He was the son of Solomon and Janie Freeman Coleman. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oliver Coleman and two sisters, Irene Cloy and Mary Whittington.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Burns Coleman of Summit; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jack Wayne Coleman of Summit and Michael Anthony Coleman and Carol of Palestine, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Fred Killingsworth of Summit; five grandchildren, Brenda Coleman, Mary Light, Mika Eberhart, Kendra McCann and Krista Melton; fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday from 5PM until 8PM at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb and Friday from 10AM until services at 11AM with Rev. Mike Morris officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Lincoln County.
