Homer T. Freeman

Homer T. Freeman, 72, a lifelong resident of the Johnston Chapel community, died Jan. 3, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bill Poole and Dr. Will Dowling officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Freeman was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Pike County. He was the son of Lizzie Freeman of Summit and the late Hosie P. Freeman.

He was a retired maintenance worker with the Mississippi State Highway Department and was a member of Johnston Chapel UMC. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his father; his wife, Sandra Sue P. Freeman; one sister, Virginia Worley; and father-in-law, Gerald Powell.

Survivors include his mother; mother-in-law, Laverne M. Powell of Jayess; one son, Pat Freeman of Summit; one daughter and son-in-law, Dale F. Wally and Robert Wally of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Wallace Nelson Freeman of Summit; three sisters, Kathleen Chunn, Louise Sistrunk and Nell Cox, all of Summit; two grandchildren, Patrick Austin Freeman and Sandra Leigh-Ann Freeman; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are John Freeman, Lee Roberts, Donald Freeman,Wayne Cox, Tilford Roberts, Brad King, Daniel Bells and Mike McGuffey.
