Horace B. Allen

HENDERSON -- Services for Horace B. Allen, 74, of 701 West Elk, Henderson, are to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Baptist Church.

Dr. L. Chester Guinn and Dr. Hugh L. Smith are to officiate and burial is to be in Laneville Cemetery under direction of Crawford A. Crim Funeral Home.

Mr. Allen, a native and life-long resident of Rusk County, was a retired pumper for Atlantic-Richfield Oil Co., and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He died early Wednesday morning at Henderson Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Allen, Henderson; four daughters, Mrs. Dora Wilkes, and Mrs. Tommie Bassett, both of Henderson, Mrs. Melba Romines, Bos[s]ier City, La., and Mrs. Carolyn Jones, Shreveport, La.; three brothers, Grady Allen and Verdie Allen both of Henderson, and Ottice Allen, Longview; two sisters, Mrs. Horace Flanagan Sr., and Mrs. Leemans King, both of Henderson; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
