Horace ``Red'' C. McCarty
Retired owner and contractor of M&M Construction and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 9:02 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at his home. He was 70, a native of Bay Springs, Miss., and a veteran of the Alabama National Guard.
Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home chapel, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Wednesday, March 17, from 5 p.m. until memorial service at 7 p.m., conducted by Tom Higginbotham, pastor.
Survived by his wife, Carol H. McCarty; daughter, Priscilla Meredith McCarty; four sons, Richard Scott McCarty, Kevin Mark McCarty, Jeffery Coston McCarty and Matthew Lane McCarty; sister, Evetta Schiffano; brother, Alfred Bertrand McCarty; 13 grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Ryan, Morgan, Kaleigh, Brittney, Cory, Tyler, Savanna, Marissa, Megan, Amber and Jesse.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter Matthew and Maybell Dawkins McCarty; four sisters, Ann, Onita, Izetta and Lorretta; and two brothers, Eric and Walter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
