Funeral Services Held For Horace McIntosh Last Friday
Funeral services for Mr. Horace McIntosh were held at the First Baptist
Church in West Blocton, Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock.
Mr. McIntosh passed away on Wednesday morning at the residence in West
Blocton after a long illness.
The Rev. Fred Walker, pastor of the First Baptist Church assisted by the Rev.
Orville Ray, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated.
Music was furnished by the choir, accompanied by Mrs. M. C. Davie at the
organ. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Blocton, with Collins
Funeral Directors in charge.
Active pallbearers were Jack Lacey and Eugene Lacey, Maylene, Alabama;
Charles Lacey, Forrest Lacey, Harry Lacey and Edward Lacey, Birmingham.
Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of West Blocton, First Baptist Church,
members of the Elks Lodge No. 710, West Blocton, Robert Tibbs, Luke Williams,
R. J. McCulley and Willie Stewart.
Mr. McIntosh was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dan McIntosh of West
Blocton. He was born in Bibb County in the Rocky Community
For many years he was employed in the T. C. I. Commissary, Blocton and later
employed in the Commissary for Southern Coal and Coke Company, Boothton,
Alabama.
During the past twenty years he operated a grocery store in West Blocton and
Smith Hill. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, West Blocton. He was
a kind neighbor, had many friends and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Lacey McIntosh, four sisters, Mrs. B. O.
Stanley, Mrs. S. A. Harris, Misses Dovie and Lavella McIntosh, West Blocton,
one niece, Mrs. Burt Kellogg, of Greenville, S. C., Mr. Marvin Stanley,
Tullahoma, Tenn., and Major W. D. Harris, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Those from out-of-town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Lacey, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Lacey, Mr. and Mrs.
