Wreck Victim Is Buried Today At Winnsboro

WINNSBORO (Special) -- Funeral services for Houston C. Arender, 34, of Winnsboro, were held held at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of First National Funeral Home here with the Rev. Donald Doughty officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery.

Mr. Arender was killed in a two-car collision Monday near Homer. Officials said the man was driving a truck belonging to Quality Trucking Co. of Winnsboro, when he collided with a car at the intersection of La. 2 and La. 79.

Driving the car was Lee Jones, 59, of Cotton Valley, who was taken to Homer Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Willie Mae Arender of Winnsboro; two step-daughters, Mrs. Willie Jean Gill of Newellton and Mrs. Edith Nell Stewart of Farmerville; one step-son, Don Allen Temple of Monroe; his mother, Mrs. Alta Brown of Baskin; a step-father, Allen Brown of Baskin; two brothers, Henry Arender of Baskin and Aubrey Arender of Newport, R.I.; one sister, Mrs. Vera Lee Arender of Baskin and a number of nieces and nephews.
