Howard Walters dies at age 48

Services are set tentatively for 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hulett Chapel for Howard William Walters, 48, of 102 Railroad Ave., who died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at a Laurel Hospital. Rev. Garland McInnis will officiate.

Mr. Walters was a retired dispatcher for the Yellow Cab Co. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Betty Jean Walters of Hattiesburg; four daughters, Mrs. Leroy Scott of Petal and Mrs. Lovee Swilley, Mrs. Debbie Norvell and Miss Sandy Walters of Hattiesburg; one son, James Howard Walters of Hollywood, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Mildred Jaggers of Laurel; his mother, Mrs. Irene Murphy of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Clyde Walters of Mountain Lake, Ariz., and Ray Walters, Casa Grande, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
