SHREVEPORT, LA -- Hubert Edward Robinson, loving husband, father and grandfather, died at his home on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the age of 82.

A service in his memory will be conducted at the Pilgrim Nazarene Church, 5550 Jefferson Paige Road, Shreveport, Louisiana, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2006, with burial at Mount Nebo, near Downsville, Louisiana, at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be his pastor, Reverend Stephen Robinson.

His grandsons will be the pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home on Sunday, July 23, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

He was born near Downsville, Louisiana, November 23, 1923. He married Dorothy Mae Tiemann on December 21, 1943, and they made their home in Shreveport for 62 years. During World War II, he served with honors in the Army for three years. In 1986 he retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years. For many years he was a member of the church pastored by his son, and he faithfully attended until just a few days before his death. A host of friends and loved ones were touched throughout the years by his generous spirit and helping hands.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four children: Carol and Reverend Alvie Jarratt of Rock Island, Illinois; Connie and Ken Wize of Milan, Illinois; Reverend Stephen and Cheryl Robinson of Shreveport; Tim and June Robinson also of Shreveport; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Owen and Shirley Chapman; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly.
