Huey Olarson Alwell

Graveside services for Huey Olarson Alwell will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2006 at Pease Cemetery near Larto with military rites. Rev Gordon Finlay will officiate under the direction of Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Friends may call Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Huey Olarson Alwell, age 73, of Ferriday, died Friday, December 8, 2006 in Alexandria.

He was born February 3, 1933 in Larto to the late B.A. ``Kenny'' Alwell and Eunice Wiley Alwell. He was a retired tire builder with Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in Natchez, Mississippi.

He was a life long resident of Catahoula and Concordia Parishes. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Alwell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alwell; brother, C.B. Alwell; and stepdaughter, Sherrill Littleton.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Metcalf and her husband Henry of Monterey; stepson, Roy Powell of Ferriday; stepdaughter, Barbara Dunlap of Denham Springs; sister, Lola Mae Walker of Pineville; grandchildren, Reuben and Adrian Metcalf; six step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be C.B. Alwell, Jr., Justin Alwell, Henry Metcalf and Roy Powell.
