Railey

Funeral services for Hugh Lewis Railey, 58, of 108 McCann, Carthage were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Dick Sawyer officiated at the funeral service and at the graveside rites at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Railey, a retired foreman for United Gas Pipeline, was born at Logansport, La., but had spent most of his life in Texas. He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and a veteran. He died Feb. 22 at Willis-Knighton Hospital in Shreveport.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Railey of Carthage; a son, Michael L. Railey of Carthage and a daughter, Sharon Holt of Joaquin. He is also survived by two brothers, J.W. Railey and Jack Railey, Jr., both of DeBerry; four sisters, Thelma Gunter of Sterlington, La., Alice Broome of Keithfield, La., Grace Knight of Carthage and Jewel Steele of Orangefield; three grandchildren, Denise, Larry and Shelly Holt of Joaquin and a host of nieces and nephews.
