Hyman D. Clifton
HOT SPRINGS - Hyman Dewitt Clifton, 70, of Mountain Avenue, died Saturday (Aug. 7, 1999) at Alleghany Regional Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1929, at Pioneer County, La., a son of Huey D. and Zelma Fox Clifton.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Hot Springs after 40 years of service as a postal clerk. He was a member of the Emory United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader and adult Sunday school teacher for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Thacker Clifton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy D., J. Dean and Merry Ann Clifton, all of Hot Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina Susan and Richard B. Waybright of Monterey; a brother, James Dwight Clifton of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Pvt. Shane Clifton of Fort Sill, Okla., Joelle D. Clifton of Charlotte, N.C., Josiah D. Clifton and Duane Scott Clifton, both of Hot Springs, and Eric Wade Buzzard of Monterey; and a number of cousins in Louisiana.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emory United Methodist Church in Natural Well by the Rev. Bass Mitchell. Interment will follow at Emory Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Loving Funeral Home, Covington.
