Ida Mae Dukes Neal, 91, a retired teacher and homemaker died Thursday, January 3, 2002, at Lakeland Healthcare Center. Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street followed by burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
A native of White Oak, Miss., Mrs. Neal was raised and educated in Smith County. She was a graduate of Hinds Community College, Delta State, and earned a Masters degree from U.S.M. She taught chemistry, biology, and Home Economics in public schools in MS. and La., for 42 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Braxton Neal.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Lou Payne, Brandon; two sons, Wendell Neal, Brandon and Webber Neal, West Chicago, Ill.; brother, Dr. Timon Dukes, Clinton, Miss.; sisters, Tera Belle McClain, Brandon and Polly Clark, Taylorsville, Miss.; six grandchildren, Sharee Brewer, Kendall Church, Natalie Neal, Ashley Neal, Mark Neal, Jonathan Payne and great-grandson, Jason Neal.
