Mrs. W. C. McCain Rites Held Tuesday
Services for Mrs. W. C. (Irene) McCain were held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. from Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Billy Williams of New Hope Baptist Church officiated assisted by the Rev. Jim Nalls of New Orleans.
Mrs. McCain died unexpectedly Nov. 5 at Marion County General Hospital. She was 44. Born March 24, 1934 in Rankin County, she was the daughter of Walter E. and Donnie Mae Knight Harrell.
She lived in Columbia most of her life and was the wife of W. C. McCain, Marion County Tax Assessor-Collector. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Thomas Michael McCain of Talladega, Ala.; two daughters, Kathy Darnell McCain of Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Mary Ellen LaFar of New Orleans; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Louise McCain; a son-in-law, Lee LaFar; three grandchildren, Brian and Bradley LaFar and Chadwick McCain; three brothers, D. S. and Walter Harrell Jr., both of Columbia, and Charles Harrell of Ruston, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Morgan of New Orleans, Mrs. Frances Mullins of Columbia, and Mrs. Katherine Peavy of Improve; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Millie Mae Bass of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Billie Sue Pittman of Shiloh.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen Dyess, Dwayne Dyess, Ricky Otts, David Crain, Wendall Sullivan Jr., a cousin of the deceased, and Bennie Barber, Wayne Yates, and Harry Clark, all nephews.
