I. N. MONK, HIT BY TRAIN, DIES

Sieper Man, Badly Mangled, Expires At Hospital Here

Isaac N. Monk, 72, died at the Baptist Hospital here this morning about 7 o'clock from injuries which he received about 5 o'clock this morning at Sieper when he was struck by a Red River and Gulf train.

He was picked up on the track, badly mangled, and rushed to the hospital here, where he died a few minutes after arriving here. Mr. S. L. Calhoun, Rapides parish coroner, said he would investigate the cause of the accident late today at Longleaf, La. He will go there to question the train crew.

Relatives of the deceased told attendants at the Baptist Hospital here that he was struck by the train as he walked across the track at Sieper.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: George Monk, Oakdale, La.; Mrs. P. C. Windham, Simpson, La.; Mrs. V. C. Nichols, Alexandria; Mrs. Oakley Barnidge, Simpson; Mrs. Willard Barnidge, Cheneyville, La.; Mrs. J. N. Gray, Sieper; Mrs. Irving Long, Sieper.

The body was taken today by Hixson Brothers, local funeral directors, to the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Irving Long, at Sieper, where funeral arrangements will be made.
