Isaac “Ike” Rhodes

NATCHITOCHES, LA. - Services for Mr. Isaac L. “Ike” Rhodes, 42, of Natchitoches, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday February 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montgomery, La. under the direction of Blanchard St.-Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.

Mr. Rhodes died Monday morning February 24, 1986, at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was a member of the National Firefighters Association, International Association of Firefighters, Professional Firefighters Association of Louisiana, Arson and Fire Prevention Association of Louisiana, Fire Chiefs Association International and Association of Fire Chiefs. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Rhodes, Chief of the Natchitoches Fire Department, had been with the fire department for twenty years, serving as firefighter and driver from 1965 to 1973, when he was promoted to Captain and Training Officer. In 1985 he was named Chief of the Natchitoches Fire Department. Mr. Rhodes was instrumental in training and encouraging the development of volunteer departments in Natchitoches and surrounding parishes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Selby Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn King Rhodes of Natchitoches; one daughter, Susan Amanda Rhodes of Natchitoches.

Pallbearers will be members of the Natchitoches Fire Department.

Honorary pallbearers: members of the Natchitoches Fire Department and members of the Volunteer Fire Departments in Campti, La., Clarence, La., Cloutierville, La., Goldonna, La., Marthaville, La., Provencal, La. and Robeline, La.
