RODESSA, LA - Funeral services for J.B. Willis, 77, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Bill Robertson, Jr., Pastor of Temple Baptist Church, Winnsboro, LA. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery, Meriwether Road.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2003 at the funeral home.
Mr. Willis was born August 11, 1925 in Sikes, LA and passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 in Shreveport, LA. He served in the US Marines Corp. during WWII. Mr. Willis was also a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin A. Willis; mother, Mollie Willis; two brothers, Lamoor Willis and Leonard Willis; and step-son, Michael Terry.
Mr. Willis is survived by his wife, Terri J. Willis of Rodessa, LA; daughters, Carol Edmonds and husband, Jerry of Garden City, KS and Sandra Ferguson and husband, Reverend Steve of Spring, TX and two sons that he adopted, Sam Willis and Jim Willis, both of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Chloee Shows of Serepta, LA, Udene Sanders of Zwolle, LA and Faye Hatten of Sulpher, LA; brother, Leon Willis of Ft. Worth, TX; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special daughter-in-law, Joyce Hooper.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ferguson, Craig Ferguson, John Edmonds, Jacob Willis, Todd Willis and Shawn Terry.
Honorary pallbearers Scott Sanders, Harry Shows and Larry Shows.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Barry Wienberger, LSU Leukemia Clinic and the doctors and staff at Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center for all of their care and compassion.
