J. C. Tucker, 86, of Laurel, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sandersville Baptist Church, with burial in Sandersville Cemetery in Sandersville. The Revs. Donnie Parker and Tony Johnson will officiate.

He was a retired welder with Southland Oil Company. He was a member and deacon of Sandersville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Tucker; his parents, Henry and Ophelia Griffin Tucker; two brothers, Elvie Tucker and James Tucker; two sisters, Ester Causey and Alder Arrowood.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Willie Paul and Rose Tucker of Easley, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Tucker of Morgan City, La.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Tucker, Jay Tucker, Bud Breaux, Hank Johnson, Tony Johnson, Henry Causey, and Oland Dunn.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Sandersville Baptist Church.

The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
