J. V. Pitts, 80, of Laurel, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Jones County.
He was retired from Masonite Corp. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jimmy Nell Coley.
He is survived by his wife, Desaree Pitts of Laurel; one son, Shelton Pitts of Laurel; three grandchildren, Shelton Ray Pitts, Gaye Hamm and Joe E. Coley, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Lindsi Pitts, Laken Pitts, Lexi Pitts and Koley Hamm. Pallbearers will be David Shoemake, Ronnie Walters, Gary Staples, Randy Shoemake, Allan Short and W. D. Shoemake.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m., today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
