Funeral services for J. W. “Pete” Johnson were held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2000 in the Welcome Home Baptist Church at Dodson, LA. Officiating was Rev. Bill Moore and Bishop Loy Gaar. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery at Gaars Mill under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield.

Mr. Johnson, 77 of Dodson died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 in the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield. He was a native of Gaars Mill, LA, U.S. Army retired, serving 22 years, a veteran of World War II and Korea, and a member of the Welcome Home Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife Velda McCarty Johnson of Dodson, LA; one daughter, Kathy Jo Fallis of Dodson, and two sisters, Lois Bain of Dodson, LA and Vera Dark of Jonesboro, LA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Lamar Skains, Brennan Murphy, Scott Terral, Roger Dark, Benny Roberts and Cal Bain.
