Jack D. Jackson, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Jack D. Jackson, age 89, of Jonesville were held at Sandy Lake United Pentecostal Church on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rusty Hathcock and Rev. Russell Hathcock officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Columbia, La., under the direction of Young's Funeral Home, Jonesville.

Mr. Jackson was born July 29, 1914 in Natalbany, La. He married Hazel, his wife of 63 years, on Dec. 23, 1940.

Mr. Jackson died Monday, June 28, 2004 at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria.

He was a resident of Jonesville, owned and operated Jackson's Welding and Oilfield Service. He was a farmer and a member of the Sandy Lake United Pentecostal Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Jackson; mother, Lottie N. Jackson; brothers, Richard D. Jackson and Ori Dennie Jackson; sisters, Beatrice Martin and Ruby Degeyter; daughters, Sharron Jackson and Joyce McLain; and sons, Wayne Jackson and Jackie Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Mae Bowman Jackson of Jonesville; sons, Jack D. Jackson, Jr. and wife Catherine of Frogmore and Willie D. Jackson and wife Mary Sue of Jonesville; daughters, Lois and husband Tillman Boothe of Houston, Texas, Opal and husband W.L. Paul of Monterey, Emma Dea and husband James Gray of Keithville, Syble Jackson of Houston, Texas and Dorothy Swaggart and Nellie Jean Duncan of Ridgecrest; stepdaughter, Earnestine and husband Nub of Ridgecrest; sisters, Selma Hart of Las Cruces, N.M., and Fubie Balda of Keithville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers honored to serve were Jason McClure, Mark Todd McLain, Charlie Jenkins, Van McLain, Miller Jenkins, Charles ``Bo'' House, Chris Huffman and Kevin Rainey.

Honorary pallbearers honored to serve were C.M. ``Chalm'' Tolbert, Roy Tolbert, Earl Brown, Jeff Brown, Tony Ganey, Randy White, Lamar Brown and Joe Pugh.
