THORNTON, JACK H.

Died Monday, Nov. 28, 1988, at 3:22 a.m. at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 69, a native of Winn Parish and former resident of El Dorado, Ark. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech, a retired Dow Chemical Co. electrical engineer and a retired U.S. Naval Reserves commander.

Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 p.m. Tuesday until religious services at 4 p.m., conducted by the Rev. John Goodwin. Religious services at Young's Funeral Home, El Dorado, Ark., at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial in Union County [Arlington Memorial Park] Cemetery.

Survived by wife, Pauline Sikes Marek Thornton; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dick O'Hara, Bastrop; a daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Jim Bailor, Baton Rouge; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Mitra Thornton, Houston, Texas; a grandson, Anderson Marshall Bailor, Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Bryan, Blanchard, Mrs. Geneva Perdue, Huttig, Ark., and Mrs. Mildred Prillaman, Chapel Hill, N.C.; an aunt, Miss Elba Thornton, Blanchard; mother-in-law, Mrs. Ruby ``Mom'' Stuart, El Dorado; eight nieces, seven nephews, six stepchildren, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, Jones and Mary McKaskle Thornton; first wife, Helen Stuart Thornton; and a brother, Jesse Thornton.

He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and Greater Baton Rouge Retired Officers Association.
