Jack Haywood Culpepper, Sr.
SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Jack Haywood Culpepper, Sr. will be held at Centuries Funeral Home Chapel, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA on Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Donnie LaDotto, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church assisted by Rev. Don Bush. Masonic rites will follow the service. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, September 4, 2000 for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Jack was born on October 17, 1924 in Shreveport, LA and was a lifelong resident. He passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2000 at the Grace Home after a long and courageous battle with throat cancer. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for 51 years, a 50 year member of Sunset Lodge #418 F.&AM., a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #14, a member of the Scottish Rite, the El Karubah Shrine and the Royal Orders of Jesters.
Jack was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer second class in the South Pacific. He retired from Interstate Electric Company after 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Ludie Culpepper, and a great-grandson, Brandon Paul Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, June Willis Culpepper; daughter, Mrs. Carol Ann Culpepper Keasler and husband, Dr. Ross Keasler of Orange, TX and their children, Mrs. Tara Dunham Brown of Baton Rouge, LA, Patrick Brant Dunham and wife, Marcy of Orlando, FL, Miss Ashley Tara Keasler of Orange, TX, Mr. Rusty Keasler of New Orleans, LA, Miss Kristi Keasler of Los Angeles, CA; one son, Jack H. Culpepper, Jr. and wife, Sharon and their children, Trevor Jackson Culpepper, Mrs. Grant Glenn, all of Shreveport, LA and two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rosenblath, Bryant Yopp, Donn Tucker, George Lohmes, Byron Vincent, Curtis Tanner. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Morningside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to the Grace Home. The family would like to thank Drs. Christopher Greer, Robert Nickelson and Lane Rosen. Also a special thanks to Christus Schumpert Hospice and the nurses of the Grace Home and especially to nurse Ann Napier.
