Jack Wilkins Mills

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Jack Wilkins Mills, 76, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Paran United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Paran Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 12, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 2 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.

Mr. Mills died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at his residence.

He was born April 27, 1932, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Wilton E. and Frances Spinks McIntosh.

He was owner and operator of Mills Linen Service and a member of Paran United Methodist Church.

Mr. Mills served in the Marines during the Korean War and received the Bronze Star. He was on the board of directors of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mr. Mills was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps Association, the National Rifle Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Korean War Veterans Association.

His family includes his wife, Barbara J. Allen Mills of Cookeville; a son, Forrest W. Mills of Cookeville; two half brothers, Hal and Larry McIntosh, both of Birmingham; and two grandsons, Addison and Gabe Mills.

Pallbearers will be Ted Webb, Bill Shreckengost, Sam Greenwood, David Stamps, Bill Amat, Harold Ferguson and Wade Adkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paran United Methodist Church Sunday School class.

Memorial donations may be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

David Sauer, Jim Rogers and Eddie Turner will officiate at the services.
