SHREVEPORT, LA - Jackson Howard “Jack” Luttrell, Jr., 96, passed away on December 5, 2015 at his residence in Shreveport, LA. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Donnie Vercher, assistant pastor of Rose Park Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jack was born on March 29, 1919 in Trout, LA to Jackson and Irma Butler Luttrell. He attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette for one year then enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 and served until October of 1945. He served mainly in the Philippines and made a memorable trip to the WWII Museum in New Orleans for his 95th birthday. He was a longtime resident of Shreveport and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years of service. He also worked for Sears for many years and became a “frame maker” and worked for several frame shops in Shreveport. He always loved his family and his hobby was keeping his yard “just so” until the age of 90.

He was blessed to have been married to two wonderful women. His first wife was Nelwyn Allen Luttrell who passed away in 1982. Their three daughters are Connie Luttrell Hargroder and husband, Jay, Kay Luttrell Osborne and husband, Scotty, and Karen Renee' Luttrell and partner, Patt York. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jackson Hargroder, April Osborne Salley and husband, Russ, and Alex Osborne. His beloved granddaughter Amber Nicole Osborne preceded him in death. His delight later in life was his great-grandchildren, Gus, Ava, Ivy and Hub Salley.

His second wife was Deen Smith Luttrell who passed away in 2013. His step-daughters are Deena Ogden and husband, Bobby, Faye Christian and husband, Louis, Lani Brown and husband, Randy, and Tami Branch and husband, Bruce. They and their children brought joy to the next phase of his life. He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Honoring Jack as pallbearers will be Alex Osborne, Russ Salley, Bruce Branch, Jr., Matthew Branch, David Wyss, and Scott Harrell.
