VIDALIA, La. -- Services for James A. Thames, 85, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Nunn officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.
Thames was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Winnsboro.
He was a Baptist, a veteran of WWII in the United States Army and was employed with International Paper Company. He loved gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha T. Thames of Vidalia; one son, Hugh James Thames of Natchez; two daughters, Karen T. Watson of Vidalia and Kim T. Weatherford of Baton Rouge; one sister, Olla Fowler of Gilbert; two brothers, Huey Thames of Witchita Falls, Texas and Illey Thames of Wisner; five grandchildren, Karen Guthrie of Ferriday, Charlene Jeanise of Lake Charles, Christopher Thames of Natchez, Terry Thames of Vidalia and Jessica West of Baton Rouge.
Pallbearers will be Ed Bringol, John Dennis, Joey Jeanise, Christopher Thames, Terry Thames and Hershal Waller.
