James Alec Dees, Jr.
(February 22, 1919 - September 8, 2012)

James Alec Dees, Jr., 93, died Saturday evening in the Woodland Heights Medical Center, Lufkin, TX. James was born in Many, LA, to James A. and Nena Quinn Dees. Mr. Dees retired from Western Geophysical Co. as a Geophysist. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as S. Sgt. Formally of Shreveport, LA, he moved to Hemphill, TX, in 1992, and attended the First Baptist Church in Hemphill and was a member of the Hemphill Post of the VFW.

He is survived by his companion Dorothy Chaney of Hemphill, three daughters, Dianne Stanley of Shreveport, Debra Jean Dees of Sachse, TX, and Karen Bernard of Brooklyn, New York, his brother Frank Dees of Kerrville, TX, and two granchildren, Asher and Kate.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2011, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hemphill Cemetery.
