James Pepper

WINNFIELD, La. -- James Pepper, 76, a resident of Sikes, died Wednesday in a Monroe hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He is survived by five sons [only four named], Alvin Pepper and Odice Pepper, both of Bastrop, James Pepper, Middleton, Texas, and Cecil Pepper, Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Mrs. Lettie McNaughton, Olla, Mrs. Virgie Cox, Urania, and Mrs. Letty Richard, Bastrop; two brothers, Kindred Pepper, Clarks, and Edwin Pepper, Kelley [sic Kelly]; four sisters, Miss Nancy Pepper, and Mrs. Martha Mayes, both of Grayson, Mrs. Florence Bennett of California, and Mrs. Carrie Crain, Monroe; 16 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held today at 2 p.m. from the Hebron Baptist church with the Rev. Doris Derman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
