James Shirey Sr.

Funeral services for James Allen Shirey Sr., 31, who died Monday in the Baptist Hospital in Jackson after a lengthy illness, will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Colorado St. Church of Christ with Bob Pohlman, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with National Funeral Home in charge.

A lieutenant with the Greenville Fire Department, he had worked as a fireman for 10 and one-half years. He was born in Summerfield, La. and came to Greenville in his early childhood where he lived for 30 years. He attended Greenville public schools and was a member of the football team. He also attended Mississippi Delta Junior College. He was a Mason and a member of the Wahabi Shrine Temple.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Janice Neal Shirey; one son, James Allen Shirey Jr., one daughter, Miss Alice Lee Shirey; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Shirey; one brother, Van R. Shirey; and one sister, Mrs. Bill Seay of Decatur, Ala.

Active pallbearers are Mack Mooney, Marshall Warnock, Lloyd Williams, Douglas Browning, Thomas S. Berry, and M. L. Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Greenville Fire Department.
