James Almond Davis
James Almond Davis, age 79, of Alabaster, passed away on Jan. 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Chilton County to the late Numa Almond and Annie Mae Killingsworth Davis. He retired from Cheney Lime Plant in Alabaster. He was a member of the National Guard, a volunteer fireman for the city of Alabaster and a champion little league coach for Alabaster.
His survivors include his daughters, Carolyn M. Cochran (John), Linda Davis Court and Carolyn Glenn (Johnny); sons, Eddie Davis, Jason Davis (Heather) and Paul Caton (Nikki); sisters, Doris Carter (Hershel) and Bonnie Mobley; brother, Leon Davis (Brenda); grandchildren, Michelle Bonds (Craig), Terry Jones (June), J. T. Jones, Ashlen Court, Jessica Court, Madison Davis, Morgan Davis, Parker Davis, Katie Cochran, Adam Cochran (Janeeta), Kaylee Caton, Angie Wallace (John), Justin Ray and Lacey Ray; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at Charter Funeral Home on Jan. 15 from noon-1 p.m. with a service to follow the visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Internment [sic Interment] is in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera. Pastor Frankie Jones is officiating and Roger Massey, Danny Joe Massey and Alan Cheney are speakers at the funeral service. Mickey and Linda Moore will sing “Amazing Grace” and “Beulah Land.” Charter Funeral Home directing.
