Funeral Rites Tuesday For J. A. Brogan

J. A. (Cy) Brogan, 77, of 503 East Sixth Ave., Petal, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at Methodist Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Brogan had resided in Petal for 36 years and in the Hattiesburg area since 1913. He was a member of the Petal-Harvey Kiwanis Club, the Petal Masonic Lodge and OES chapter.

He was employed by the Mississippi Central Gulf and Ship Island and Bonhomie and Southern Railroads.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hulett Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Sam Waggener and Rev. J. P. Payne officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Petal, with Masonic rites.

Mr. Brogan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tressie Brogan, Petal post-mistress; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Epps of Petal and Mrs. George West of Jackson; two sons, James E. of San Diego and Paul H. of Houston, Tex.; five brothers, Mike and Steve Brogan of Laurel; Tom of Colorado Springs; Russell of Denver and Jake of Gulfport; and by nine grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Gray, W. H. McCarthy, Dr. J. F. Pou, Dr. A. T. Tatum, Dr. Fred Tatum, Lee Prayto, Phillip Rolls, Thomas St. John, W. H. Singley, H. R. Jordan, Erman Napier, Ira Hall, T. A. Couglin, A. E. Odom, H. A. Moore, Archie Tynes, J. B. Haigler, E. V. Ford, H. L. Norsworthy, W. L. Cross, members of the Petal-Harvey Kiwanis Club and of Petal Masonic Lodge No. 516.
