James W. Byrd Died Last Night

James W. Byrd, aged 65, former resident of Ouachita county and in business at Woodberry with his father for several years, died in a Little Rock hospital at 7:45 p. m. Tuesday night. He was residing at 514 Rock street in Little Rock. Mr. Byrd was connected with the Arkansas Highway Department and had served in the state government in various capacities for a number of years under various governors.

He is survived by his wife, a son, John, of Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. John H. Morrison of Camden; Mrs. Ben Stringfellow of El Dorado; Mrs. Hattie Speer of Tinsman; and two brothers, Dr. E. J. Byrd of Camden; and W. B. Byrd of El Dorado.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be held in Little Rock with burial in Roselawn cemetery there.
