James Barney Boyett

James Barney Boyett, age 75, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 in San Antonio.

Barney was born in Hope, Arkansas on December 18, 1933 and moved to Conway Arkansas when he was 12 years old.

He served in the US Air Force from 1953-1957 and was stationed in San Antonio and Bushy Park, London, England. Barney graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1960.

His career for the U.S. Secret Service spanned for over 20 years. He traveled the world with several Presidents and 7 Vice-Presidents. In 1979, he was named the Special Agent-in-Charge of the San Antonio Field Office, the position he held until his retirement in 1983.

Barney is survived by his wife, Joann Worthing Boyett; son, Brock Boyett and wife Lisa; daughter, Christy Leigh Boyett; grandchildren, Austyn Leigh Windle and Matt, Meagan Ann Boyett and Travis Boyett; sisters, Johnnie Hanks, and Dorothy Robertson; sisters-in-law , Mary Souter, Carolyn Bertetti and Tom; many nieces, nephews and friends.
