J. C. Armstrong
Funeral services for Mr. J. C. Armstrong, 80, of Marshall will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1996 at Travis Street Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall. The Rev. Roy Stephens and Rev. William Walker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Waldrop Cemetery. Arrangements will be under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Mr. Armstrong died Monday morning, Oct. 14 at his residence in Marshall after an extended illness.
Born June 14, 1916 in Beckville, he was the son of Arch and Maggie Emmons Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a rancher, and former member of the Harrison County Sheriff's Posse. On Sept. 5, 1936 he married Christine Waldrop in Tatum. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Armstrong, Ed Armstrong, and Aubrey Armstrong; two sisters, Annie May Nemmo and Sarah Sipes; and one daughter, Geneva Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine Armstrong of Marshall; three sons, G. E. (Judge) Armstrong, Jerry (Tap) Armstrong, and Tommy Armstrong, all of Marshall; one daughter, Carolyn Neely of Keithville, La.; five grandsons, Wes Armstrong, David Armstrong, Jason Armstrong, Tim Harris, and Kipper Glaze, all of Marshall; two granddaughters, Tina Ann Green, and husband, Will, of Shreveport, La., and Christy Armstrong of Marshall; two great-grandchildren, Alex Green and Brittany Green, both of Shreveport.
Active pallbearers will be Mr. Armstrong's grandsons, and Will Green.
Alex Green will serve as an alternate pallbearer.
Flowers are permitted or memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas or Fairview Baptist Church of Marshall.
