In Memoriam

TO MY MOTHER: In memory of my Father, Mr. J. C. McDonald, died Jan. 15, 1952

By: Pvt. Charles L. McDonald, 169th Signal Const. Corp., White Sands Proving Grounds, Las Cruces, New Mexico

It's only been a few weeks ago
Since we laid Daddy to rest;
Though it seems like such a long, long time,
Yet the memories are so fresh.

Now I have to leave you too, Mom,
And return to my camp far away;
But I got to see Daddy before he left.
And for that I'll thank God every day.

Take care of yourself, Mom, write me the news,
And don't worry about Daddy and me;
For he's living in Heaven helping God,
In a world that's happy and free.

He loved us all so and things were always right,
That's why we miss him so down here;
Now we'll live 'till the time we go to meet him,
And pray God will end this war soon, Mother dear.
