James ``Jim'' C. Johnson

James ``Jim'' C. Johnson, 62, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery with a military honor guard by Cannon Air Force Base of Clovis, N.M. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mr. Johnson was born April 20, 1940, in Valley, Miss. He had been a Stratford resident since 1965. He married Ann Burgess on July 11, 1965, in Stratford. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the University of Mississippi and a master's degree in business from the University of Utah. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Air Force. While in the Air Force he was in supply, munition, explosive ordnance disposal and aircraft maintenance. He was the Sherman County Veteran Affairs Officer.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James C. Johnson III of Stratford; a daughter, Captain, Major Select, Kara K.J. Newse and husband, Micah, of Boulder, Colo.; his mother, Beatrice Johnson of Yazoo City, Miss.; a brother, Bill Johnson of Bonham; a granddaughter, Alissa Johnson of Stratford and Nambe, N.M.; and a grandson, Bryce Newse of Boulder, Colo.

The family suggests memorials be to Stratford Cemetery Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 188, Stratford, TX 79084.
