James C. Holliday

MIDLAND -- James C. Holliday passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003 in the Home Hospice House in Odessa. He was 76. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bill Skaggs of Kelview Heights Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Jamye Ball, 4808 Rangewood Ct. Midland, TX 79707.

He was born June 26, 1927, to J.H. Holliday and Fannie Byrd Vaughan in the Oak Creek community of Coke County, Texas. His family moved to Tarzan, Texas, in 1931 and to Midland in 1936. He attended Midland schools and at the age of 14 he decided he'd rather get a job and go to work. In 1945 he joined the Navy Seabees and served in the Philippines. In 1950, during the Korean Conflict he was called back into active duty and served one year in Alaska. He married Myrna Faye Johnson on February 11, 1950, in Midland. He worked 34 years for The Permian Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Bill Holliday, Jack, Monta and Charlie Lacey and a precious grandson, Dustin Bradley.

Survivors include two daughters, Michele Bradley and husband, David, Jamye Ball and husband, Brian, all of Midland; two sisters, Wynonah Zimmerman of San Antonio, and Vaughni Peacock and husband, Douglas, of Odessa; three grandchildren, M'Lissa Reynaud and husband, Lee, of Elk City, Okla., Nicholas Atchley and Adam Ball, both of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brian Ball, David Bradley, Nicholas Atchley, Randy Rives, Tom Thibeau Ron White.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Home Hospice of Midland, 901 W. Missouri, Midland, TX 79701.
