WAITES, James C. ``Jim''

James C. ``Jim'' Waites, 82, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 42 years of Mary J. (Gesualdi) Waites, died peacefully on Friday, (July 30, 2004) surrounded by his loving family. Born June 26, 1922, in Greensboro, AL and was the son of the late James C. and Florence (Bishop) Waites. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran and lived in Wethersfield for 63 years. He owned and operated Jimmies Service Station, now Cross Automotive, on the Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield for over 30 years. Jim was a member of the former Kiwanis Club, Wethersfield and he was a Mason. He was an avid walker and enjoyed traveling, he loved the outdoors, the desert and beautiful sunsets in the West Coast.

Besides his wife, Mary; he is survived by two sons, James C. Waites, III and his wife, Christine of Manchester and Thomas Waites and his wife, Josette of McLean, VA; four daughters, Janice Vendetta of Enfield, Carol Dimmock and her fiance, Alfred ``Skip'' Freeman of Willimantic, Beverly Klemyk and her husband, Robert of Newington and Lorraine Rossitto and her husband, Caesar of Glastonbury; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Lyon.

A very special thank you to Connecticut Hospice for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 3, at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. The burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Calling hours are Monday, August 2, from 4-8 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
