James Clinton ``J.C.'' Whittington

James Clinton ``J.C.'' Whittington, 86, of Gloster, died Sept. 21, 2005, at his residence.

Services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy. The Revs. Jim Kelly and Douglas Aikens officiated. Burial was in Mary Springs Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home of Gloster handled arrangements.

Mr. Whittington was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Amite County to the late Henry Charles and Sarah Jackson Whittington.

He was a truck driver and attended Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy.

Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katherine Hollingsworth Whittington; one daughter, Sandra Paulette of Gloster; five sisters, Artie Mae Waller of Gloster, Myrtis Causey of Gloster, Jencie Nettles of Baton Rouge, Encell Ford of Baton Rouge and Eunabelle Temple of Gloster and two brothers, Hoyt Whittington and Ray Whittington, both of Gloster.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lavonne Bedford and husband Jerry of Meadville, Christine Sterling and husband Dale of Gloster, Kay Hays of Liberty and Lynette Plunkette of Columbus, La.; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Beatrice Whittington of Gloster, Lemuel and Elizabeth Whittington of Gloster and Donald and Beverly Whittington of Liberty; one sister, Margie Bellue of Baton Rouge and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were his grandsons: Ronald Dale Sterling, Brian Sterling, Bartley Whittington, Dusty Whittington, Shannon Plunkett and Nathan Plunkett. Daniel Whittington was an honorary pallbearer.
