James C. Logan
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - James C. Logan, 63, died May 28, 2000 at the United States Air Force Academy Hospital as a result of complications of surgery. He was born August 20, 1936 at Cash Point Plantation in Bossier Parish, Louisiana to Whitfield Vance Logan and Idelle Goodwin Logan, (deceased).
Jim attended Louisiana Tech University where he was awarded a BA degree in Art, George Peabody College in Nashville where he earned a Master's Degree in Art Education.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1959. During his career he was a Wing Level Education and Training Officer, Personnel Officer, Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Louisiana State University, Education and Training Staff Officer at Headquarters AFROTC, Educational and Traini[n]g Staff Officer at Headquarters US Southern Command, Assistant Director of the Admissions Liason Office at the United States Air Force Academy where he obtained the rank of Lt. Col. He was a member of TROA.
He taught Art Medal and Jewelry at Yuba College, Marysville, CA and Art History at Troy State in Alabama. He owned a printing company in Colorado Springs before he became a professional watercolorist. He was a president, and treasurer of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, associate member of the National Watercolor Society and American Watercolor Society.
Jim was a member of the choir at First Presbyterian Church as well as the Becomers Sunday School Class. He was also active in the Downtown Rotarian Club. He was known for his Christian leadership in his family and in the community by teaching Sunday School and Bible Studies.
He was a loving husband, a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Emmons Logan; a son and his wife, Dr. James Whitfield Logan and Lucette Darby Logan, their children, Olivia Phoebe Logan and Whitfield Darby Logan, a daughter and her husband, Cheryl Conway Briant and Major Coy Jamison Briant and their children Nathaniel Paul Briant, Melissa Renea Briant, and Jared Michael Briant. He also has a brother and his wife, Samuel Vance Logan and Ruth Bailey Logan, their son Samuel Vance Logan, Jr., a daughter and her husband, Stephanie Logan Falls and Ron Falls, their sons Christopher Logan Falls and Matthew Keith Falls.
Services were held at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 1 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade, Colorado Springs, CO.
