Funeral services for J.D. ``Douglas'' Bickley, 95, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Benge officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Bickley, a retired employee of 44 years with Louisiana Power and Light Company and member of First United Methodist Church for over 65 years, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007 at his residence. He was very active in Bastrop's civic clubs, being past president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. Mr. Bickley was a former recepient of the Nathan Bolton Award. He loved his family, church, the town of Bastrop and the people of this community.
Mr. Bickley is now re-united with his wife of 65 years, Mavis Morie Emmons Bickley and his parents, Joseph L. Bickley and Mollie Norwood Bickley.
He is survived by his son, James Douglas Bickley, Jr. and wife Gay of Baton Rouge, LA; grandson, James Douglas Bickley, III of Baton Rouge, LA and three nieces.
Serving as pallbearers are: Doug Bickley, Ryan Larussa, Warren Walker, Warren Ardoin, Nelson Orr and Dr. John Garrett.
Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. E.D. Baker, Sam Williams, Jerry West and Johnny Bond.
