Pioneer Leaves 190 Descendants

Funeral services were held at Forest Hill, La., for 97-year-old James Dudley Dunn, who lived in Baytown for a while last summer in the home of his son, H. Lee Dunn, 311 East Gulf.

Dunn died Saturday. He left 190 descendants.

He was married to Sarah Frances Henderson in 1874, and of this union there was [sic were] 15 children, only two boys and six girls surviving. They are T. M. Dunn of Charleston, S. C., and Mr. Dunn of Baytown; Mrs. W. T. Allen of Bunkie, La., Mrs. Clara Mizell, Mrs. G. M. Johnson, Mrs. H. M. Bailey, Mrs. Ivey Cook, and Mrs. J. S. Griffin, all of Forrest [sic Forest] Hill.

Also surviving are 58 grandchildren, 112 great grandchildren, and 12 great [great] grandchildren.

The elder Dunn was a deacon in the Baptist church for 39 years, a parrish sheriff for more than 50 years, and a charter member of the Forest Hill Masonic Lordge [sic Lodge].

James Dudley Dunn

Oakdale -- Funeral services for James Dudley Dunn, 97, of Forest Hill were held Sunday at Forest Hill Baptist Church with Rev. J.N. Winegeart and Rev. Logan officiating. Burial was in Butters Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.

Mr. Dunn died Saturday at the Blake and Hare Clinic at LeCompte following a two day stay there. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by two sons, L.M. of Charleston, SC, and H.H. of Baytown,TX; six daughters, Mrs. W.T. Allen of Bunkie, Mrs. Idella Mizelle, Mrs. G.M. Johnson, Mrs. H.M. Bailey, Mrs. L.C. Cook; and Mrs. J.S. Griffin all of Forest Hill; 52 grandchildren, 103 great granchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
