JAMES EVERETTE (JIMMY) EMMONS III

EMMONS III, JAMES (JIMMY) EVERETTE, born Sept. 21, 1936 in Greenwood, MS; preceded in death by his parents James E. Emmons Jr. and Annie Hughes Johnston Emmons of Tullahoma, TN; and his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Miller Emmons who died in 2007.

Jimmy successfully fought a battle with lung cancer in 2008, but the deadly disease snapped back in August and ultimately took his life.

He is survived by his children, James E. Emmons IV (Cindy) of Lake Mary, FL, Marilyn Emmons Stallings (Chris) of Sanford, FL, Michael Troup Emmons (Monica) of Longwood, FL and Stephen Johnston Emmons (Ashley) of Atlanta, GA. Additional survivors include his sister, Anne Emmons Wall of Del Ray Beach, FL; and sister-in-laws, Katherine Wallace (Charles) of Hilton Head, SC and Judy Tobin of Springfield, VA. Jimmy is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jacci (Jake), Garrett, Arielle, Taylor, Haley, James V, Cole, Chris, Hanna, Tommy, and Troup.

Jimmy attended Tullahoma High School, Vanderbilt University and is a Life-Loyal brother of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a member of Wekiva of Presbyterian Church in Longwood, a member of Sweetwater Golf & Country Club and he retired in 1991 from a successful 32-year career with Hallmark Cards, Inc.

Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing at Wekiva Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 12:30 pm. The memorial service begins at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida, 7643 Persian Court, Orlando, FL 32819, 407-248-9210 in Hanna Emmons' honor.
