Power Worker Dies From Electric Burns

Rites Incomplete For J. E. Peoples

Walnut Grove -- Funeral services were incomplete here Monday for James E. Peoples, 26-year-old electric power company worker who died from severe burns at the Baptist hospital at 11:10 a.m. Monday. He has a brother and sister in in [sic] Jackson.

He was injured last Wednesday while working on a “hot wire” near Philadelphia and was treated at the Neshoba county hospital until Saturday.

He was a member of the Standing Pines Baptist Church, where services are planned either Tuesday or Wednesday. The officiating ministers will include the Rev. Jodie Mooore [sic Moore], the Rev. Homer McDonald and the Rev. Rutledge Courtney.

Survivors include his widow and one daughter, Gayla Jane Peoples; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Peoples, Standing Pine community; one sister, Mrs. Kermit Barron of Jackson; two brothers, Billy People of Jackson and Kenneth Peoples, a serviceman stationed in San Diego, Calif. White and Wilcox funeral of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
