James E. Philpot

Funeral services for James E. Philpot, 75, of 8955 Rosecliff Drive, a retired Dallas policeman, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hickory Tree Baptist Church. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Philpot died here Saturday. A native of Guntown, Miss., he had lived in Dallas 45 years and served on the police force here for 1925 to 1945. He was a deacon of Hickory Tree Baptist Church.

Survivors: Three sons, James E. Philpot and Roy B. Philpot of Dallas and James D. Philpot of Valdosia, Ga.; a stepson, Ramsey Hawthorn of Kilgore, Gregg-Rusk Counties; two daughters, Mrs. James Stewart of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Andrew Scot of Manassas, Va.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Robbie Atkinson of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. J. A. Cox of Copeville, Collin County; 19 grandchildren.
