James Earnest ``Mr. Mac'' McCarty

NEDERLAND -- James Earnest McCarty, 77, of Nederland, was born December 22, 1929, in Wells, Texas, the son of the late Maudell (Bailey) and William Earnest McCarty. He passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007, at his residence. Mr. McCarty was retired from the Nederland Independent School District, where he was a Vocational Agriculture and CVAE Teacher. He was very loved and highly respected by his students, who still called and visited with him. He was a selfless person, and was a generous supporter of the Covenant House in Houston, the Salvation Army, and Cal Farley's Boys' Ranch. Mr. McCarty served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Green of Trophy Club; grandson, Joshua Green of Trophy Club; sister, Mildred Glover of Wells; brother, Troy McCarty of Lufkin; and a number of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Gary Johnson, Slade Johnson, Travis Glover, C. W. Williams, Trae Glover and Lane McCarty.

Services for Mr. McCarty will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2007 in the Falvey Methodist Church, with Reverend Bud Bonner officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
