J. Edgar Whatley Died Monday P.M. Of Heart Attack

Funeral Services Tuesday P.M. Four o'Clock at the Reynolds Methodist Church.

Mr. James Edgar Whatley, husband of Mrs. Hazel Barrow Whatley, died suddenly Monday afternoon in Reynolds. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Whatley was 68 years of age.

Mr. Whatley was born in this county Feb. 13, 1894, son of the late James Henry Whatley and Elizabeth Sa[u]nders Whatley and had spent his entire life in the county.

He was a retired farmer; a veteran of World War 1, trustee and member of the official board of the Reynolds Methodist church of which he was a faithful member.

Funeral services were conducted at the Reynolds Methodist church Tuesday at 4 p.m. with Rev. Virgil Culpepper officiating, assisted by Elder John Mangham. Interment followed in the Hill Crest cemetery.

Active pall bearers included: Leonard Whatley, Edwards Whatley, Ducca Whatley, Julian Whatley, Troy Whatley and Woodfin Hinton. Honorary pall bearers were: Men's Class composed of E. H. Joiner, J. H. Neisler, G. C. Elder, R. C. Brooks, S. J. Tankersley, Jim Musslewhite, E. T. Shealy, Edwards Hollis, Jas. Ricks, Jim Brewer, Cliff Windham, C. B. Hicks, Bob Swearingen, Robert Swearingen, Clay Jr., Billy and Thurman Whatley, Jr.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Donald, of Reynolds; three brothers Thurmon and Clifford both of Reynolds, and Dr. Clay Whatley, Savannah; one sister, Mrs. B. W. Hinton, Reynolds.

Goddard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
